LASIK Co-Management At Mississauga Vision Centre

Tired of constantly changing eyeglasses prescriptions and the hassle of keeping up with your contacts? Looking to dump your eyeglasses or contacts for good? The eye doctors and the team at Brampton Vision Centre and Mississauga Vision Centre are constantly in search of the latest and greatest ways to help their patients obtain and maintain their best vision always, and work closely with Ontario-based The TLC Laser Eye Center to provide their patients with state-of-the-art options in LASIK and refractive surgery co-management. Their co-management includes both pre-op preparation and post-op follow-up to be sure that you are prepared and informed for your surgery and healing up properly afterward.

LASIK is the most common vision correction surgery that our doctors provide co-management services for, and they strongly recommend this procedure to many of their patients looking to be independent from their eyeglasses or contacts because of its quick and relatively painless recovery. Before surgery our doctors will be happy to answer any questions about this surgery as well as set up a pre-op consultation with one of the surgeons with which he maintains a relationship. After answering any questions you may have, they will facilitate the scheduling of the surgery itself.

During surgery, your eye surgeon will open a small, circular flap in the cornea either with an instrument called a microkeratome or with a laser. The flap is then folded back and the surgeon begins to use a special cool ultraviolet laser to reshape your cornea. For nearsightedness, the cornea is reshaped to be flatter, while farsightedness requires the cornea to be reshaped into a steeper form. After reshaping, the eye surgeon will set the circular flap of the cornea back in place. The reshaped cornea should be able to focus incoming light more accurately than before, allowing for noticeably improved eyesight.

After your eye surgery, you will return to our practices in Mississauga or Brampton, ON, where our team will schedule a number of follow up appointments to make sure that your recovery is going smoothly and your eyesight has improved as planned. Any questions you have for the team in terms of post-op recovery will be answered in your first session after surgery. Your eyesight will return quite quickly, with most patients able to see clearly within only a few days.
